Birdie Chance & Golf Ball Recycling
Giving Golf Balls a Second Swing ♻️
At Birdie Chance, we’re proud to support Golf Ball Recycling (GBR), Australia’s first and largest recycling service for used golf balls, endorsed by the PGA of Australia, Golf Australia, and the Australian Golf Industry Council.
Through this partnership, we’ll be listing pre-loved golf balls from GBR directly on our marketplace, making it easier than ever for golfers to choose sustainable gear and keep high-quality balls in play for longer.
Birdie Chance's Vision on Circularity
At Birdie Chance, our mission is to make golf more accessible, sustainable, and connected by giving gear a second swing.
We believe golf can be a leader in sustainability by keeping quality equipment in play for longer. Our marketplace empowers golfers to trade easily, smarter, reduce waste, and help shape a future where every club, ball, and bag finds a new home.
Our Role in Golf’s Circular Economy
We see circularity as more than recycling – it’s about extending the life of products, reducing waste, and helping golfers make smarter choices. Through our unique platform features, Birdie Chance enables golfers across Australia to reuse, resell, and re-equip efficiently, easily, and safely.
Together with GBR, we aim to:
- Reduce landfill by keeping pre-owned gear in active circulation.
- Support material recovery for end-of-life golf balls and consumables.
- Educate and inspire golfers to make sustainable choices.
- Promote shared responsibility across the golf ecosystem.
About Golf Ball Recycling
Golf Ball Recycling was established to tackle the environmental impact of lost and discarded golf balls — which produce approximately 0.79 kg of CO₂ emissions per ball and can take hundreds of years to break down.
GBR collects, reuses, and recycles golf balls of any condition. Reusable balls are cleaned and returned to play, while damaged ones are shredded into aggregate and repurposed into new products such as:
- Stormwater pollution prevention inlets (ESPPI)
- Walkways and pathways at Melbourne Golf Park
- Concrete grates, bollards, and acoustic panels
- Outdoor furniture, playground surfaces, and creative installations
With every recycled ball, GBR helps reduce landfill waste, support innovation, and move golf closer to becoming one of Australia’s leading circular economy sports.
A shared vision for golf’s sustainable future
Birdie Chance and GBR share a simple belief: every piece of golf gear deserves a second chance.
By buying, selling, or recycling through our marketplace, you’re helping reduce waste, support environmental innovation, and keep Australia’s fairways greener for future golfers.
